The Pacific Mesothelioma Center (PMC) at the Pacific Heart Lung & Blood Institute (PHLBI) is pleased to announce the appointment of N. Dann Moss Esq. to its prestigious Board of Directors.

The former Entertainment Consultant and outside counsel for WIN TV (satellite broadcast company) is also a past board member for over 20 years of the Entertainment Industries Foundation; Co-Founder of the Vikki Carr Scholarship Foundation; Co-Founder and Designated Patron of the United States Centennial of Flight funded by the U.S. Congress, producer of “Israel’s 70th Anniversary Gala,” and active member of the California State Bar.

Moss states that “It’s my honor to be actively involved with The Pacific Mesothelioma Center. My dear friend NFL Hall of Famer and Broadcaster Merlin Olson died from this insidious disease which is caused by exposure to asbestos. Army Archerd, the esteemed entertainment columnist for Daily Variety for 50 years, passed away from his contact with asbestos during his wartime service in the Navy. I am deeply committed to working closely with the PHLBI as it continues to advance its research and find answers to several devastating forms of cancer.”

Professional athletes, Olympic gold medalists, Government officials, musicians and world-renowned actors have died from mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer that is diagnosed in an estimated 3,000 Americans annually. Renowned legends who have passed away from mesothelioma include: Actors Steve McQueen, Ed Lauter, Paul Gleason; Musician Warren Zevon, MTV Star and AIDS activist Sean Sasser, former White House Chief of Staff Hamilton Jordan, Olympic Gold Medalist wrestler Terry McCann, etc. All were exposed to asbestos fibers working in the Armed Forces, exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam, on oil refineries, construction, etc.

Joseph Garland, MBA and Chair of the Board of Directors states that “Dann brings a unique combination of professional talent, combined with a deep personal commitment, to help PHLBI continue its mission. His appointment comes at a crucial time, as we continue our innovative research to find better immunotherapy treatments for mesothelioma and other chest cancers.”

“Dann had been involved with our organization for many years. He was instrumental in obtaining masks painted by: Sir Anthony Hopkins, Boxing Champion Sugar Ray Leonard, Ringo Starr and so many others for our 2019 ‘unMasking the Cure for Cancer Gala,’ which raised much-needed funds for the Institute,” said Clare Cameron, Executive Director at PHLBI. “I am so pleased that he is joining the BOD and looking forward to working with him as we continue our research quest.”
