Dedication of the “Punch” Worthington Laboratory at the UCLA Medical School, May 27, 2005

The David “Punch” Worthington Laboratory is located at The David Geffen School of Medicine at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. The Laboratory was made possible by a generous initial donation and continuing support from Roger G. Worthington, a founding director of PHLBI. Under the supervision on PHLBI’s Scientific Advisory Board, Robert B. Cameron, M.D., Warren S. Grundfest, M.D. and Gary J. Schiller, M.D., The David “Punch” Worthington Laboratory is the home of exciting new research on novel strategies for the treatment of mesothelioma, lung cancer, leukemia, and other occupational cancers.

The laboratory is dedicated to Roger Worthington’s father, David “Punch” Worthington, a former genetics professor and union organizer, who contracted asbestosis and lung cancer. Punch Worthington is a long time patient of Dr. Robert B. Cameron.
