Research Plan
Dr. Robert Cameron is committed to making PHLBI a worldwide leader in
researching mesothelioma, a rare asbestos-related cancer that is uniformly
fatal and in dire need of novel diagnostic, screening, staging, and treatment
approaches. Dr. Cameron has been at the forefront of developing innovative
therapies for extending the lives of mesothelioma patients. Dr. Cameron’s
research plan for PHLBI includes programs involving Immunotherapy, and
Screening/Early Detection/Prevention. Dr. Cameron's research plan also
includes investigation into much-needed administrative improvements in
medical care which will provide patients with additional knowledge, security

Clinical Trials
Vorinostat (Suberoylanilide Hydroxamic Acid) is an experimental drug designed to treat advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma. If you are 18 years or older you might be eligible for recruitment to take part in the Vorinostat trials. Patients are now being considered for treatment at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Hospital where Dr. Robert Cameron will be conducting the trials.
