The Pacific Heart Lung and Blood Institute Honored as 2015 Top-Rated Nonprofit

The Pacific Heart Lung and Blood Institute Top-Rated 2015 Nonprofit

LOS ANGELES, CA, Nov 2, 2015 – The Pacific Heart Lung and Blood Institute (PHLBI)  announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2015 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2015 Nonprofit,” says Clare Cameron, Executive Director of The Pacific Mesothelioma Center at The Pacific Heart Lung and Blood Institute. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including our recent 5K Walk for Mesothelioma that raised over $100,000 for research in malignant pleural mesothelioma.

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews written by volunteers, donors, and clients. People posted their personal experience with PHLBI.

For example, one person wrote “The Pacific Heart Lung & Blood Institute is a 5-star organization that uses every nickel raised to investigate novel potential treatments for mesothelioma. Its dedicated staff works tirelessly to improve potential outcomes of these patients who suffer from asbestos-induced lung cancer.”

Another reviewer stated “I decided two years ago to monetarily support this organization on a yearly basis during the 5K Walk for Mesothelioma fundraising event. They are making a difference in the fight. With them there is hope for those already diagnosed, and for those who do not even know they have this silent killer growing inside of them.”

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, The Pacific Heart Lung and Blood Institute was part of the inaugural group to qualify for this year. The reviews by volunteers, clients, and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community for the work PHLBI does.
