Mesothelioma Patient Apartment Dedication
Close friends and families gathered together Monday night, September 10, 2007 to celebrate John and TC McNamara’s generosity. A few months ago, John and TC began preparing a special apartment in North Hollywood, California to be used free of charge by mesothelioma patients undergoing treatment with Dr. Robert Cameron in Los Angeles, California. Now, this special apartment is a home away from home for all “out of town” mesothelioma patients. See the apartment yourself!

September 10, 2007 was a special date for John McNamara for another reason as well. It was the two year mark for John since he was initially diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, epithelial type. Two years ago, John felt lost as he tried to learn about mesothelioma, treatment options and specialists. Once he learned about Dr. Cameron’s unique lung-sparing approach available in Los Angeles, California, though, he never looked back.

John underwent lung-sparing surgery to remove the tumor encasing his right lung in a procedure known as a pleurectomy with decortication. Dr. Cameron pioneered this surgery specifically for mesothelioma patients and he has treated hundreds of patients using this method. After surgery, John underwent radiation to burn off two residual tumors.

Now John uses homeopathic remedies to supplement his treatment, including 65 herbs that he takes sometimes begrudgingly. His wife, TC, ensures that John always receives the best treatment possible and continuously researches the best approaches.

They feel fortunate to have such a world-renown surgeon located near their home in the Los Angeles area. Through John's treatment, they have met other patients who have traveled from all over the country to be treated by Dr. Cameron. These patients and their families incur the cost and inconvenience of extended stays at hotels. John and TC want to help these out-of-town families by providing a nicely furnished and appointed apartment, free of charge, to serve as their "home away from home" while they're in Los Angeles for treatment. It is their hope that, by doing this, more mesothelioma patients will be able to take advantage of the innovative treatments offered by Dr. Cameron.
